Literature Text

I write to You
to the One
who holds my heart
its strings

You clasp them tight
then with gentle tugs
you unravel it string
by string

And as each knit
falls out of place
I'm pulled forward by
its force

And with each step
my body fails
I'm torn by
my remorse

For there You are
the One who died
my heart's strings in
Your hands

You tug and pull
me closer still
wanting every string
and band

For your loving eyes
will not relent
consuming every part
of me

Your heart cries out
for my love
I'm all that You
can see
I wrote this tonight after spending some time with God. I just realized how much Jesus Christ really loves us. I don't think anyone can actually imagine this type of love ... I still struggle to comprehend it. But yes, this poem reminded me of two verses in Song of Solomon:

Where the Beloved (Jesus) said to the us:

"Turn your eyes away from me, For they have overcome me" Song 5:5a

"Set me as a seal upon your heart, As a seal upon your arm;
For love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave;
It's flames are flames of fire, A most vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it."
Song 8:6-7a
